Sunday Notes

December 16, 2018

Hello Sandburg Families

This is Principal Simmons with our Sunday Notes.

What an exciting Friday it was. We had a special visitor and several children and their families enjoyed a walk around the track with Santa. As the 2018 school year comes to an end, I want to thank everyone for being such a great school family.

Speaking of families, it was great to see so many families at the band performance on Friday. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to our 5th-grade students perform. Well done students! It was also great to see all of the parents join their child for "Lunch with Dad" on Tuesday and Thursday this past week.

We have a lot going on this week as we are going to provide our Barnes and Noble students with the prizes they earned as well as present the books we were awarded through their give back program.

Upcoming events:

  • Monday, December 17th, Pictures with Santa, 7 am to 3 pm. You still have time to sign your child up.
  • Monday, December 17th, Breakfast for our Marines from our 5th-grade families.
  • Wednesday, December 19th, Take a Tiger to Dinner at Chick-Fillet.

December 9, 2018

Hello Sandburg Families, this is Principal Simmons with our Sandburg Sunday Notes.

The students have spoken; our theme for the 2018-2019 Jog a Thon is Sugar Rush! Thank you foundation for an epic assembly on Monday. This is just a reminder, if you are interested in supporting the Jog-A-Thon this year, we are in need of parental support. Please meet us in the library on Monday, December 10th at 6:00 to begin planning this fantastic event.

For those children who are waiting for their running club certificate, they will receive it on Monday. Speaking of the running club, we will have a special guest, this Friday, December 14th. Santa will be here for our running club to say hello to our students before the Monday pictures. Please join us.

We are still collecting the Santa picture forms. It is so important that we have all forms completed and turned in before the day of the event! Our PTO is exceptionally excited to spread some Holiday cheer!

Some upcoming events:

-December 10th: Foundation Meeting at 6:00 pm to discuss the Jog a Thon.

-Our Holiday Gift shop will be open from December 10th-December 14th.

-Running with Santa during running club, December 14th at 7:25

-Pictures with Santa, December 17th, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

-Take a Tiger to Dinner, December 19th at Chick Fillet

I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season. As it continues to get busy, please remember it is against the law to make a U-turn near a school. If you are caught and your license plate is taken, it will be sent to the SRO. In addition, please remember that attendance is critical. I will continue to have parent meetings with families who have excessive absences to ensure we are supporting you if necessary.

Please join us at Running and Walking Club to honor all veterans and active duty personnel at 7:20 on November 9. Additionally, students who bring a guest will earn an extra MILE (4 laps) toward their running credit. We have a gift for our military guests. Students should bring their guest(s) to any Running Club volunteer to receive bonus credit, claim the gift and present it to their guest as a token of gratitude." I want to personally thank those individuals who currently serve in the military or have served. Your dedication to our country is much appreciated by all.

Thank you, boys and girls, for doing such a great job and following the rules after we talked about expected behavior during our assemblies last week.
